TWO BOOKS BY PRIVATE ROBERT KNOX SNEDEN
EYE OF THE STORM by Robert Knox Sneden, Edited by Charles F. Bryan, Jr. and Nelson D. Lankford (The Free Press / Simon Schuster, 2000)
IMAGES FROM THE STORM by Robert Knox Sneden, Edited by Charles F. Bryan, Jr., James C. Kelly and Nelson D. Lankford (The Free Press / Simon Schuster, 2011)
Dear Son,
These are two special additions to our Civil War library. There was a Private Robert Knox Sneden who created a a 5,000 page memoir containing not just text but watercolors and maps of battlefields. I'm amazed the memoir survived the war! Click HERE for more information about this treasure trove!
The first book, EYE OF THE STORM, was put out in 2000. It was so popular that IMAGES FROM THE STORM was put out the following year with more (300) images. Here's an interior sample of a reproduced image of battlefield and the text that accompanies it (click on images to enlarge):
Your Dad found out about this project from a NY Times article. He then followed up with ordering the books. The life lesson here, son, is paying attention and following up. Here's the article which is inserted into the first book, EYE OF THE STORM:
These also are books that make learning fun. We hope you do have fund perusing the pages of this unique project.
Love,
Mom and Dad
